Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Susan Jerrell, Founder of My Copy Pro LLC., located in Louisville, KY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a copywriter who makes online business owners' dreams come true with conversion copy that helps them get more clients, sell more courses, and make more income. As a word lover and voracious reader, my superpower is converting your audience from raving fans into eager-to-buy customers! I specialize in launch strategy and copy expertly crafted to generate leads, increase sales, and grow your impact.

Tell us about yourself

I became a copywriter after 30 years of teaching others how to write in my English and journalism classes. After leaving the classroom, I turned a lifelong dream of earning a living by writing into a business. When I started my copywriting business, I wasn't sure what direction it would take me, but I found my love working with coaches and course creators who are out to impact the world. I wake up energized every day because I know I'll be writing and making a difference in someone's life that day. If I've learned anything in my life, it's that you're never too old to start something new, too experienced to learn something new, or too inexperienced to do great things.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is a long list of satisfied clients. My goal with every project I take on is to capture my client's voices, understand their audience's problems, and write copy that they love. With comments like, "I LOVE what you've done so far!!! You've captured the exact tone that we wanted." "WOW, WOW, WOW-LOVE THESE!!! WONDERFUL job on the copy-thank you!" "Perfect, thank you, Susan! Feels like I want to take the course when reading your copy!" and "Wow - I started tearing up reading through all this - so I guess that means I love it!" I think I've met my goal!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a solopreneur, the hardest thing is making all the decisions on your own and trying to figure out what works and doesn't work for you. Having not previously worked in business, this has been an experience, but in a good and satisfying way. I love to learn and try new things, so that's been a plus. Finding other people who are going through the same thing has also been a help.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The top 3 tips I have for someone looking to start their own business would be to choose something you love, don't try to do it all at once, and hire someone to do the things that aren't your strength if it will save you time or money in the long run.
