What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am the founder and lead stylist of Style Turner, a premium full-service men's personal styling consultancy. We offer in-person and virtual personal styling services designed to provide real men with a holistic understanding of how to look and feel their best. Style Turner goes beyond the one-size-fits-all approach to men's style. We view each client as a creative collaborator who, with the guidance of an award-winning stylist, is taught how to achieve a look that showcases their success. Best of all, clients leave their experience with more than just a killer wardrobe. They leave equipped with the tools to continue developing their personal style over time.
Our clients include tech industry executives at companies like Google, Facebook, and Lyft, entrepreneurs in industries ranging from design to finance, and ambitious young professionals looking to accelerate their careers.
Tell us about yourself
I launched my business in 2019 after being exhausted by the editorial world. I wanted to make an impact on the lives of real people while also having complete autonomy over every facet of my life. Even during the hard times, the positive effect my service has on my clients makes all the challenges worthwhile.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is growing a highly engaged following on TikTok. I love sharing my expertise and enjoy hearing from viewers about how one of my videos helped them in one way or another.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Holding yourself accountable can be hard at times, especially when you're exhausted. As a one-man team, I'm my business's biggest asset, so consistently stepping up to the plate is paramount for my success.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Comparison is the thief of happiness. Trust that you're exactly where you should be.
- Being yourself is your superpower. Relax and allow your true self to shine through.
- Always get the money upfront. Whether it is a deposit or the entire fee, never do work until a contract has been signed and the money has been deposited.
