Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jordan Stupar, Founder of Stupar Enterprises, LCC., located in Milwaukee, WI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are an evident sales training and consulting company. We work with thousands of individual salespeople throughout every industry and provide them with unique approaches to selling in today's market. We also work with companies and their teams to implement formal and structured sales training with built-in reporting and accountability.

Tell us about yourself

Throughout nearly two decades of being a salesperson and a top 1% income earner, I felt unfulfilled going into my sales job each day despite earning $500k/yr. In 2017, I found the courage to pursue my entrepreneurial dream of sharing my approach to selling with others.

After walking away from a job providing an income that most others dream about, building a business was anything but easy. Despite the challenges of growing a business, I never quit. Seeing my clients dramatically increase their income and create better lives for themselves and those they care about is not only continually motivating - but unbelievably fulfilling. My success is predicated upon helping others win more, and that's what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I built Stupar Enterprises into a $2.7M/yr business in 18 months. We continue to grow at over 300% year over year. Being able to do that without any outside money, investors or partners is an accomplishment I'm proud of. I currently have six full-time employees, and I love watching their lives. The lives of their families change as they embrace the work we do and participate in our mission.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I'm just an impatient person! Although I'm grateful I've built a successful and profitable company quickly, I'm still far from where I want to be. Like anyone, I like what I want and want right now! Accepting that creating anything significant is a process and will take time has been one of the more challenging pills to swallow.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. The 'better time' you're looking for to give yourself permission to get started doesn't exist and never will. Stop waiting and get to it.
  2. Learn how to sell. It doesn't matter how great the product or service you create is. Your business will only go somewhere if you generate revenue. Revenue is your business's oxygen. If you cannot make more of it, your business will suffocate and die.
  3. Although you won't be able to predict everything in the future, you can expect some challenges and issues you'll face in business. Take time to document specific and clearly defined processes, policies, and procedures that you and your team can follow. This will save you time and money in the future, save you from reacting to issues and ensure everyone in your business knows what to do when 'X' happens.
