Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marco Dieckmann, of Structure Coffee Roasters, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

WE BELIEVE THE CORE OF OUR BUSINESS IS PEOPLE

At Structure, our approach is to reveal the work of producers. We believe that coffee gets its character at the farm. That's why our roasts aim to preserve these flavors. In other words, to treasure the work of the producers. For us, it is a guarantee of quality for our customers and respect for the work of the farmers.

Tell us about yourself

From its beginnings in 2017, Structure’s mission is clear: roasting the best coffee there is. Our search for the “perfect bean” does not come at the cost of others or the environment. We value equity, honesty, and authenticity above all else, and we hold ourselves accountable to applying them with our producers, our partners, and our clientele.

For us, this is the only way to produce the best quality coffee. It’s as simple as that.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having survived a global pandemic being in the hospitality business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Having a global pandemic and all the restrictions made it almost impossible to operate a coffee shop.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
