Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fitness and health but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Pelc Graca, founder of Strong with Sarah, located in Novi, MI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Strong with Sarah Weight Loss Coaching helps our clients to lose weight without giving up chocolate and wine. We believe in empowering our clients and teaching them ways to be healthy that still involve enjoying one's favorite foods and drinks.

Tell us about yourself

I started my career in health and fitness as a personal trainer. I loved training my clients, but many of them hired me for weight loss, and they were not seeing results. My personal training sessions were effective, but it's very hard to lose weight and become healthier without changing nutritional choices.

I continued my education by receiving my nutrition coaching certification and started implementing that with my personal training sessions. Voila! My clients began seeing results without depriving themselves. I am motivated to help as many people as possible lose weight but without the toxic diet culture of extreme deprivation (which usually leads to overeating in the long run).

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a successful nutrition and fitness professional, I've been interviewed and featured in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Parade Magazine, PopSugar Fitness, Yahoo, and many other publications.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Patience and consistency! So often, business owners want to be successful overnight, which is not realistic. Be patient and continue to put effort into your business, and it will slowly grow over time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be organized! Whether it be tracking leads, financial information, or inventory, be sure you have a system that works for you to stay organized!
  2. Be open to trying new things until you find what works best to optimize your business (both in terms of customer satisfaction and sales).
  3. Love and care about the people you serve!
