What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help busy B2Bs digitize their training, processes, and marketing so that they lighten manager workload, boost workplace effectiveness, and share their value in a 21st-century marketplace.

Tell us about yourself

My Origin Story:

🎬 ACT I

  • As a teen, I discovered my passion is to help people better themselves so that we better the world around us. So I chose a career in compulsory education as a History & Theater Teacher.
  • I pursued those subjects of study at a Bible college in northern Wisconsin, graduating with a BA for each.
  • Sadly, just after four months into my first teaching job, the industry-standard inflexibility and untamed stresses eroded my health, relationships, and passion. Something had to change.

🎬 ACT II

  • For several yrs, I explored the landscape of learning through tutoring, subbing, & also Museum Education. After 2 yrs at a Museum, I found the career is not sustainable & scalable within the current industry. While it was a dream job, I was forced to look elsewhere.
  • Temporarily, I went back to the classroom as a part-time Substitute. Then the government's response to COVID displaced most part-time Subs. So I found work where I could: two entry-level retail jobs just to pay the bills.
  • A yr later, I incidentally connected with an experienced corporate trainer who offered to mentor me. He brought me alongside his team at a large company for six months as a sub-contracted Instructional Designer (view his recommendation towards the end of my profile).
  • While I gleaned valuable experiences, I also learned that large corporations often bar Learning & Development professionals from the end-to-end design process and levy shortsighted expectations that hinder outcomes for all parties involved.

🎬 ACT III

  • Then I discovered a way to work directly with the top decision-makers from the entire lifecycle of the people development process: Work with Small Business Owners & Entrepreneurs! In October 2021, I started my own LLC called Storyscape Design. I help busy B2Bs digitize their training, processes, and marketing so that they lighten manager workload, boost workplace effectiveness, and share their value in a 21st-century marketplace.
  • I also work alongside Tait Media as a Part-Time Instructional & Graphics Designer. Together, we help company leaders communicate their authentic selves through digital media in order to build trust and community from a Christian worldview.
  • Ultimately, my WHY is to help leaders model STORY wisdom so that we balance our world with grace and truth.
