Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nathalie Pincham, Founder of Story Tonic, located in Washington, DC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a Certified Professional Coach who works with driven business founders and professionals ready to step into their boldest, most exciting vision of success. I help them hit their big, scary goals in life and business without working harder and risking burnout by leveraging high-performance skills that build their confidence, impact, and fulfillment.

Tell us about yourself

I'm not your average coach partly because there have been countless twists and turns and detours on my journey. I have never followed a prescribed path. When I started my first business, I was full of self-doubt, relying on strategies I had always equated with success to get me through—namely, really hard work. But even though I was 100% committed, checking all the right boxes, and business was going well, behind closed doors, I was struggling. I worked 60+ hours a week, yet success felt forever out of reach. I suddenly realized I was building the wrong business, chasing an idea of success that I didn't recognize as my own. Worse, I honestly thought this battle was mine and mine alone.

When I stepped into my role as a coach, it changed my life. I believe running a business is a powerful way to make a difference in the world. I believe that each of us has the potential to lead, and each and every one of us has the potential to make a difference. So I don't want my clients wasting time and money on strategies that don't work or that don't align with how they want to show up in the world. I help my clients adopt high-performance tools and strategies that drive them to show up as their best in everything they do and accelerate their rate of growth in every area of life and business.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping my clients experience transformation. It's so powerful, and I feel so lucky to have found this way of working with people. I'm thrilled that I've been able to take all the talents and passions I possess, what truly sparks me inside, and create a successful career and business. A business that allows me to do what I love, work with amazing people and have the capacity to actually enjoy life.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Taking on too much, working too hard. Wearing too many hats and letting the To-Do list be never-ending and all-consuming.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get super clear on the impact you'd like to make, and in doing that, make sure your business goals and life goals truly align. (Get help doing this if you can!)
  2. Be very clear on who you want to reach with the work that you do.
  3. Build a clear, compelling message for your business that drives engagement and sales for your business.

Once you have these 3 things in place, everything will start to get easier!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The risk of burnout for high achievers is very high when they don't have a clear sense of direction and purpose. I believe that empowered entrepreneurs build not just thriving businesses but thriving communities, which is why I've created a coaching framework that helps them show up confidently, step into leadership, and know exactly where to focus to move the needle in their business.
