What's your business, and who are your customers?
I believe in the power of good stories. Through my business, I coach women and other people who identify as underrepresented, helping them make sense of their fragmented stories in a way that it becomes compelling, and they take pride in it. STORY stands for Strong Talented Original Remarkable You, and the goal is for the client to own their professional and personal story and to benefit from telling it to others.
Tell us about yourself
I have loved stories since I was a little girl. Through my work with women, I noticed that some of us have a lot on our plates, and when it comes to making sense of all the fragments and things that we do here and there, it's not easy. We sound confused and all over the place, which is not helpful if we need to land a new job or position. It's key to understand the skills we acquired through all the experiences we had and to be able to explain them. As the results are fast and clear, I feel more and more motivated every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
To get outstanding reviews from my client and a lot of word of mouth.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having to take care of everything from client conversations to technical support and paperwork. It's too time-consuming, but I still have fun with it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Define your story. It's important to have one.
- Know your audience.
- Don't give up. Things are not easy at first, but if your story and audience are well defined, you will succeed.
