What's your business, and who are your customers?
I founded a branding agency called Stoqd (pronounced stoked). We build websites, manage social media, and create content for the world's top brands. We believe that having a memorable brand identity has never been more important. With an actual marketing plan, you can finally articulate your message clearly and make more sales.
Tell us about yourself
I, Myke Metzger, was born in Long Island, New York, in 1989. I am an author, professional speaker, and entrepreneur. I am best known for my success as a digital marketing consultant for some of the most successful companies, athletes, and public figures in America.
I started as a simple freelancer trying to make an income to support myself. Over the years, I became obsessed with business and marketing. One of the biggest actions you can take to fuel your motivation is engaging in creativity exercises. Some examples of this are journaling, writing, creating art, making content, and exploring your passions, whether that's exercise, film, singing, or anything else you enjoy. Happiness fuels motivation.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I crossed the one million dollar mark at 31 years old. Being able to build a company and a platform for others to succeed, explore their talents and skills, and make a living is one of my biggest accomplishments.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is simply creating a structure for yourself to remain productive, generate revenue, manage others, and bring in consistent projects. You will have to wear many different hats when you're getting started, which involves a great deal of pressure, so focus on managing and enduring stress in a healthy and effective way while you're starting your company.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Starting and running a business can be a challenging and rewarding experience. Here are three tips that may help you as you embark on this journey:
- Have a clear vision and goal: It's important to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve with your business. This will help you focus on the tasks that are most important and keep you motivated.
- Build a strong team: As the saying goes, "teamwork makes the dream work." Surround yourself with people who have the skills, experience, and drive to help your business succeed.
- Stay organized and keep track of your progress: Keep track of your goals and progress, and be sure to review and adjust your business plan as needed regularly. Staying organized and on top of things can help you make informed decisions and stay on track.
