Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amber Pankonin, a Registered Dietitian & a Certified Executive Chef of Stirlist, located in Lincoln, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Certified Executive Chef, Registered Dietitian, and Recipe Developer at Stirlist.com. My customers are food brands or commodity groups looking for quality recipes and food photography created by an expert with influence.

Tell us about yourself

As a Chef and Registered Dietitian, I saw brands seeking experts with influence. I knew I could provide great content and help to connect consumers to brands through recipes and food photography.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I love working with local brands but getting to work with nationally recognized brands and build relationships with marketing and PR firms across the country has certainly influenced the success of my business.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think making time for self-care is one of the biggest challenges. Most business owners have to devote their time and energy to their business and customers, which doesn't leave much time for self-care.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You do not have to have everything figured out before you start. There are so many helpful resources available to entrepreneurs now more than ever before.
  2. Tell people what you are doing and be clear about what problem your business is trying to solve.
  3. It's ok to try, fail and then shift or start completely fresh. It's best to fail early so that you can move on when something doesn't work.
