What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Stewart Consulting, LLC, we help organizations with strategic planning and leadership development so that they drive performance, productivity, and profitability. We develop business plans, facilitate strategic planning sessions, and conduct leadership training programs for our clients. Our clients range from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies to non-profits, colleges, and universities.
I also have the pleasure of traveling the world and speaking at conferences and for major corporations. My book, Revelations in Business: Connecting Your Business Plan with God's Purpose and Plan for Your Life, has received several literary awards and has been formally endorsed by many leaders, including Dan Cathy, Chairman of Chick-fil-A.
Tell us about yourself
I am an author, consultant, and global speaker. I am blessed to have over 20 years of experience as a business practitioner and business academician. On the practitioner side, I have served in leadership roles with Fortune 100 companies, including The Coca-Cola Company and AT&T. On the academician side, I have served in leadership roles with Harvard Business School and am a graduate of Harvard University.
Clients appreciate the practical insights and pragmatic tools I share, along with best practices from Harvard University and some of the Harvard Business School cases I co-author, including ones on Mary Kay, Inc. and JCPenney. Being blessed and fortunate to operate in my gifts, talents, calling, and purpose is what motivates me each day! It is a joy!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is supporting my clients in achieving their strategic planning and leadership training goals. Example: I have a client in Dallas, Texas, who engaged my firm because they were so dependent on the same revenue streams. We developed a comprehensive business plan that allowed them to be awarded a $2.5M grant from a major foundation. This was an extraordinary accomplishment for us.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I believe one of the most challenging aspects of being a business owner is effectively prioritizing my time to ensure that I am focused on the key business imperatives but also living a joy-filled and balanced lifestyle. We don't have a personal life and a professional life; we have ONE life, and we have to make it count!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Begin from within, pray and meditate about what your focus should be.
- Gain as much experience, education, and training, as possible, in your field.
- Surround yourself with positive people and mentors, and enjoy your journey!
