Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stephanie Robinson, Founder of Stephanie's Ginger Snap Shots, located in East Palo Alto, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own and operate a fresh-pressed juice, ginger shots, and loose-leaf tea company. My customers are like-minded individuals who want the convenience of all-natural and organic products with no additives or preservatives. Grab and go juices, natural energy shots, or relaxing tea blends.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Stephanie Robinson, and Stephanie’s Ginger Snap Shots was officially formed as a business in 2018. I’ve been juicing off and on for over 12 years. My journey started out with me wanting to change my habits and start working out to develop a clean eating program. I started out walking and then hiking. After each hike, I was sore. There was a local juice bar that I loved, and the owner overheard me mention that I was going to be sore, and she recommended a ginger shot. I did, and the next morning I felt great. From there, I started drinking ginger shots every day. I liked the natural energy it gave me. The juice bar that I frequented went out of business, and from there, I started making my own, and then it evolved from creating juices to now creating loose-leaf blend teas.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

There have been a few, from officially starting my business in 2018 to promoting my business at various events throughout the Bay Area to forming an LLC.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I wish there was a blueprint for walking you through starting a business. Everything has been through trial and error. Trying to launch a website, shipping, and handling, designing labels, obtaining a business license, and doing it by myself has been a struggle.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a mentor, and accept constructive criticism.
  2. Be open to feedback.
  3. Be willing to think outside the box.
