Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stephanie Long, a Business Coach based in Victoria, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Business Coach for Nutritionists. I help Nutritionists start their businesses and sign their first paying clients. I work with Nutrition students, new grads, or those in the first years of their business to get clear on their niche, create their nutrition programs, set up their email list and website, and start marketing so they can sign their first clients.

Tell us about yourself

I started as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist in 2014 and worked with nutrition clients for 3 years in person. At the same time, I was teaching the business course at my local nutrition school and had students and new grads asking me to help them start their nutrition business. I pivoted into full-time Business Coaching in late 2017! I love helping Nutritionists get over the overwhelm of starting their business (as I can relate) and helping them put themselves out there to start changing other people's lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching my online course, Launch Your Nutrition Biz, which now has over 300 Nutritionists inside the program. Pushing through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship over the years and now being in year 8 of owning my own business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The ups and downs that come financially and mentally and learning how to push through the harder times to keep going. Also, finding the confidence to believe in yourself and your vision and keep working toward your dream, even when it feels impossible.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get really clear on your why, as it will help you to stay anchored through the ups and downs.
  2. Get a support system! Whether that's a business coach, colleague, friend...someone that can be by your side supporting you throughout your journey.
  3. Get clear on your niche as soon as you can - this will help to give you direction, stand out from the crowd, and become an authority in your space!

Where can people find you and your business?
