What's your business, and who are your customers?
Sensationally Thriving Children Therapy provides pediatric occupational therapy services in the Boston, MA, area. We also provide parent consultations, education about sensory processing, and virtual parent groups.
Tell us about yourself
I have been a pediatric therapist for 12 years. I have worked in a variety of pediatric settings, including home care, private practice, schools, and outpatient rehabilitation. I felt like I often worked with families at a clinic, but then it was hard for them to carry over the strategies into their home setting. I started Sensationally Thriving Children Therapy to provide home-based pediatric occupational therapy services where children are most comfortable, their home! Additionally, sensory processing has always been a passion and area of interest for me. I provide parent consultations, parent courses, and parent education groups to help demystify and explain what sensory processing is in a parent-friendly way.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I love seeing the progress my patients make and hearing families say they are finally able to relate to their children better. Helping infants learn how to walk, a child to eat more food, or a parent to understand how to help their children when they are dysregulated are the reasons why I love what I do!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is having to "wear all the hats." Having to manage the finances, human resources, clinical services, and marketing. I have really enjoyed learning about all of these aspects of business!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Reach out to your network. I joined many entrepreneur groups in my industry, which has been so helpful!
- If you don't try, you'll never know how successful you can be!
- Make sure to make time for self-care.
