Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erin Fasano, co-founder of Starryside LLC., located in Sherman Oaks, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We're a new, natural drink and snack company that encourages you to think – and drink – outside the box. Our first product, Star Water, is the world's first better-for-you beverage with all the flavor, function, and fun families crave to stay hydrated, healthy, and creative.

Tell us about yourself

Since becoming parents, we've been worried about the decline in kids' creativity. Experts call it the "creativity crisis" as test-centric education and risk-averse corporate culture stifle imagination. Without original thinking, kids won't find their passions or rise to the challenge of solving the world's biggest problems (we have a few!).

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launch! It took us 18 months of development, but we're finally ready to share Star Water with the world and can't wait to share it with kids all over the country.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Resilience and staying motivated even when things are hard - it's not easy to fight an uphill battle every day, but my partner and I encourage each other to keep going!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your consumer.
  2. Fail fast.
  3. Keep going.
