What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a small hand-crafted business that primarily provides candles, other natural ingredient products, and candle events and classes. My customers are people who love supporting small businesses, learning, doing hands-on activities, as well as wanting quality products with toxin-free ingredients. Many of my customers are ppl I've met along the way of starting my business. So please, if your family and friends aren't as supportive as you think they should, don't focus on that. Your personality and quality products alone are enough!
Tell us about yourself
I've always been into art, so I love creating. I've done music for some time, directed videos, and more. I was also vegan for a long time, which made me get into creating natural products. Just learning that the average things we use daily are toxic for ourselves and our environment. That gave me to push to want to make a change. Creating makes me very happy & growth keeps me motivated. Seeing things come together gives me the drive to push the limits because if one thing works out, why can't I be the next? Every time I look back at my work and progress, I see growth, so I can only grow more!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having a consistently growing clientele. My customers are happy after every purchase and are excited to spread the word. That means more than anything, honestly, because part of why I started was to bring people better quality!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Trusting yourself, with no confirmation. It's so easy to fall into the words of "How am I going to do this," "Should I be doing this, this way?," "Am I going about it the right way?" when in reality, there's no right or wrong way in building your business the way you see it besides just trusting yourself, your ideas, & the process.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Just do it. Don't give up. Remember why you started and have fun! Why do something you don't like. If it's all about the money, you'll never see it because you aren't happy with what you're doing to achieve that financial goal.
