What's your business, and who are your customers?
We sell handcrafted soy wax candles with crackling wood wicks. After a difficult day, nothing soothes us more than the smell of warm apple cider and the subtle crackling sound. We wanted to spread the warmth and joy we feel when lighting a delicious-smelling candle.
Tell us about yourself
We became best friends at first sight in the 7th grade. We have been musing and daydreaming about travel and working together for our entire friendship. Starting a business together is a fun adventure that keeps us connected.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment so far is seeing our candles being enjoyed by our customers on social media. We derive great happiness from spreading the comfort of a warm scented candle.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The biggest challenge we have faced is attempting to sell candles online when a scent is so important for selection. My mouth actually waters when we pour the mulled cider scent with how delicious it smells. That is something difficult to convey through images.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ask for advice - Even those in different industries will face similar hardships. We can all learn and grow together.
- Jump in - You will never be completely prepared. It is better to learn as you go and enjoy the ride.
- Have fun - Your happiness and mental health should always come first, no matter what.
