Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stan Eyler, Founder of Golden Goose, located in Delray Beach, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hi. I am about to launch Golden Goose and will help inventors, coaches, CEO's and creators. I have invented hundreds of products, have a bunch of patents, and manufactured for 12,000 customers, including FedEx, USPS, UPS, The Pentagon, Gillette, and Kodak in just about every industry. I am going to use my unique skills and help people with my real-world experience. If you used a credit card or cash or received a package that had a bar code on it, thank you for supporting me. I will have a DIY Academy for $2000, and if you want my personal help to get a patent along with my ideas to help you make your idea patentable, that will be $100,000 for a year. I have video testimonies to back up what I say. I am also listed in the USPTO, so they are also my credentials. I was the only one in the world with my products since no one could figure out how to make them, and I had the patents...LOL. If you remember floppy disks, they were all black until I came along in 1981 and invented colored disks, like red, yellow, blue, and green, and made the green for Fuji. I also exhibited at 24 trade shows per year from here to Germany every year for almost two decades. You know my products, but you do not know me. I am about to change that!

Tell us about yourself

I was in real estate from 1980 -1981 and had an Apple 2 to help with my real estate business. It did NOT have a hard disk. Interest rates went to 22.5%, so I sold the computer (which really hurt me) to seed my new idea to manufacture cleaning diskettes, and I received my first patent for that product. The rest was easy.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having the ability to convert from a single insurance plan to a group plan would cover my radiation treatments for throat cancer. I must say that was the best example though I bet you have never heard a reason like that. I change everything I come into contact with. I got a scholarship from the President of the US to attend a military academy, and within 30 days, they had to rewrite the Golden Rule book because it said midshipmen would not drive an automobile, but it said nothing about renting an airplane, so I did to see my girlfriend in Boston. Wars have been started over women... Fortunately, my Dad had a Cessna, and I knew how to fly; now I needed someone that had a license... Steve said to think outside the box, and I swayed; Steve, what box? I don't see a box...LOL. And if you wanted to talk with him, all you had to do was go to his booth in 1981, which was before Apple became huge and he became a superstar.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Both Steve, Bill, and I agree (They agreed on camera together) - it is people. For their companies, this group cannot eat with that group. This group doesn't eat meat, and the other group does. Absent that, one of my biggest problems outside of internal people was people/companies were infringing my patents. I did such a great job of marketing that I was sold out for three years which can be a problem. When FedEx placed its first order with us, it was for 1,000,000 cleaning cards. Who the heck has 1,000,000 of anything lying around? No one... But eventually, we grew, manufacturing worked 60 hours per week, and we delivered. When Kaiser ran out of aluminum for pouches (used in alcohol prep pads), I just happened to have a friend that works in purchasing at Nestle, and he shipped me what I needed.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do you want more? Ha, call me, please. I need to get back to work. I work seven days per week, 60 to 80 hours per week... or at least until my dog tells me he wants to be fed...LOL. Here is one tip: Never lose your sense of humor; otherwise, you will be like what Dante wrote over the gates of hell in Dante's Inferno.
