Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nicole Swartz, Founder of Sprout Law, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sprout Law is a law firm for women business owners. We help protect your brand name, logo, and tagline from copycats.

Tell us about yourself

I love working with women entrepreneurs and creatives. Helping women build a business, pursue their creative passions, and gain financial freedom is my favorite thing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing a client's business idea in their head, working with them to start and protect the business, then seeing it launch in real life. That website launch or store opening is always so much more beautiful than you imagined. It's the biggest thrill every time.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Constantly evolving your mindset. The knowledge and skills that got you to $10,000 in revenue won't get you to $100,000. And what led you to $100,000 won't get you to $1,000,000. You have to keep learning, pushing yourself, and doing weird (sometimes scary) things that people will question (until they think you're a genius).

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

When you're starting a business, I'd say, "don't listen to the doubters." Only listen to constructive criticism from people you trust who want your business to succeed. But so many people will offer unsolicited advice or doubts. So many of the good things in my life came from having the money and the freedom of my own business. I'm so glad I didn't listen to all those people in the beginning who doubted me.

When you're running a business, I'd say, "replace yourself as soon as possible." Hire people who are smarter than you and better at the work.

When you're growing a business, I'd say, "find a mentor who's done it before." Having someone who's been there before is invaluable. You'll find new decisions and may not always know the answer, but you'll have a sounding board.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Running a business is such a fun, challenging, and creative opportunity. If it's something you're thinking about, be smart, be strategic, and go for it!
