What's your business, and who are your customers?
Southern Grace Cincy Catering is a full-service southern homestyle catering company. We specialize in bringing Sunday dinner memories back to life with friends and family. Our customers are people that love a good home-cooked meal.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business from a failed engagement, which led me to find my purpose in life. I worked two jobs to get my business off the ground. I discovered my calling while writing in my daily journal when I decided to step out on faith and start my catering business. I have always had a passion for serving others and good food. I took family recipes that I grew up on and put my flare on southern homestyle food. My favorite childhood memories were Sunday dinner at my grandmother's house after church. I'm mostly motivated by being able to offer a healthier food option to those who miss food they were raised eating as a child.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is still being open after a pandemic.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things for me has been letting employees go.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- I would suggest going through an entrepreneurial incubator such as Mortar, GCMI, or AABDP to learn the fundamentals of running a business.
- Get a Bookkeeper/Accountant to help manage your financials and help you reach your financial business goals.
- I would get involved with the local chambers to network and learn from various business leaders to grow in your industry.
