What's your business, and who are your customers?
Quite simply, although not so simple, I work with the SOUL- a person’s total self in mind, body, and spirit. I call myself an Intuitive Energy Healer. The modalities I use are energy work and the ‘system’ of yoga which includes chakra psychology. I read the chakras and then help individuals do the healing necessary to clear the blocks that hold them back from achieving inner peace, healthy relationships, a fit body, and balancing their life. I use all kinds of tools, including light, breath, sound, color, touch, and movement. I also utilize metaphysical tools of inner child work, grounding, and higher self-connection.
In general, my clients are seekers of health and well-being at every level. They are independent and free-thinking, which makes them naturally curious about the mind, body, and spirit relationship. They are humanitarians serving as yoga teachers and practitioners, artists, mothers, psychotherapists, bodyworkers, school teachers, health care workers, basically people in service to help others in the trinity of mind, body, and spirit.
Tell us about yourself
I was raised by a single mother who went back to school to become a brilliant psychotherapist in my early teens so she could support her two children. I largely give her credit for how I started working with the mind, body, and spirit. She has been one of my best mentors. As she developed into an amazing therapist, I grew right along beside her. She introduced me to all kinds of healing and terms like chakra from the time I was thirteen years old. Then right out of high school, I knew I wanted to help people, which led me to massage school in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I continued to grow and expand in the healing arts field, getting certified in yoga teaching, tantra, meditation, and craniosacral therapy, to name a few. Thirty-five years later, what continues to motivate me each day is my passion for freedom, inner peace, and bliss. There is a lot of pain here on the planet, and I want to share my healing. I want to help us remember the love, the FUN, and the beauty that exists every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have achieved so much in my time doing healing work to help others overcome their obstacles of fear, trauma, and painful experiences, but I think my biggest accomplishment is yet to come, and I don’t really know exactly what that looks like except that it feels so peaceful and calm, really soothing.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Well, if you are a career healer in alternative care, it’s marketing and burnout. Healers are usually good at healing, but the business side is usually lacking greatly. Burnout in the healing field comes from over-giving and overextending yourself without taking the time to fill the cup back up or neglecting self-care. It’s important to practice what you preach.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get business training early on in your education, don’t wait. It’s of equal importance to invest in it along with healing training.
- Take care of yourself, and stay committed to your practices of self-care.
- Have more fun, way more fun doing the healing; after all, we are helping others to create new neural pathways in the brain, so let’s set up habits that make us laugh, love, and remember the beauty. Play.
