What's your business, and who are your customers?
Souk Bohemian. Our passion is to introduce our global inspirations to our local community. We connect with artisans at home and abroad to curate aspirational ready-to-wear pieces, home goods, small-batch jewelry, and handmade accessories for every detail of your life. Wander into the shoppe and immerse yourself in a full sensory experience.
Tell us about yourself
Together with my business partner, Vanessa Coore Vernon, we fused our separate ventures to create The Bō’hēmian Brands. The Bō’hēmian Brands creates a culture of mindful living through creative partnerships. We speak fluently in the tongue of the nomad and work with artisans to bring our visions to reality. Each brand centers around a form of self-care. From sharing the best dishes by our favorite chefs to partnering with artisans to design global goods, we aim to curate aspirational spaces for timeless moments. We are here to give you a roadmap to becoming a global citizen. We live the belief of Robert Louis Stevenson that “There are no foreign lands, it is only the traveler that is foreign.” We invite you to explore each of our brands (Brown Bō’hēmians, Souk Bō’hēmian, and Bō’hēmian Eats) and bask in the moments that resonate with you the most.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
After being online since 2016, we had the opportunity to open our first brick & mortar location inside Ponce City Market. This was truly a community effort. With help from family and friends, we opened our doors in May this year.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Managing your time. You will never work harder than when you work for yourself. It's important to create work boundaries, so you don't burn yourself out.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be clear with the story your brand tells. Know your strengths, and hire help when you need to. Be consistent.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
