What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a contemporary, abstract artist. My paintings are textured, bold, colourful, and creative to fit any home or business.
Tell us about yourself
First, I’d like to say I’m an artist, and I’ve always been an artist and always known as an artist since elementary. In 1995, I started a business doing faux finish effects and murals for homes and businesses, and eventually, the style was kinda integrated into my paintings. My clients usually motivate me. They challenge and push me to do things that I don’t normally paint.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has always been to work for myself and do what I love to do each day, and when you do what you love to do, you do it well.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I would say that your brain never stops. Your creativity happens when it happens, and sometimes you work the weekends and nights because that’s when the juices are flowing, so you end up working more hours.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Customer satisfaction would be number one. Clients love it when you deliver their paintings personally. Don’t let a little criticism ruin your creativity. Expect to work extra hours and reply to clients within a day. Otherwise, they think you’re not interested in doing the job.
