What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a mixed media artist focused on alcohol inks. My customers are mostly in the range of 25-54 who lives near New York/New Jersey.
Tell us about yourself
I started teaching art to younger students during the pandemic, which inspired me to explore more mediums. I stumbled upon alcohol inks and fell in love with the vibrant colors and flow. The practice became an obsession where I had to create. It healed me in a way as I was able to 'let go' of my emotions through ink and flow sessions. I have the urge to help others heal through art by teaching and collecting my art.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My after-school program art classes are nearly full! And I'm currently busy working on commissions and collections for my next art show at Art Expo NYC.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Managing time! The day goes by way too fast, with so many things to get done. I always try to prioritize and make notes of what's most important to get done in the morning.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Don't be afraid to ask for help. You will need all the help you can get when you start! Don't be afraid of failure, as that's how you learn. Start by starting, as you won't be perfect.
