What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Human Resource Consulting providing small to large businesses support in all departments: talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll, handbooks, employment law, employee relations, and terminations. I provide resume reviewing and updating. I also offer Coaching (Life, Mindset, Career, etc.)
Tell us about yourself
I unintentionally started working on my business due to an unfortunate event. I was working for an advertising and marketing company in the HR department as an Employee Relations Representative. I truly enjoyed interacting with employees. My goal was to provide different types of incentive programs to boost morale and, of course, company productivity. I was injured in a car accident which led to part-time status, which transitioned to a permanent disability. My boss kept in contact with me, and she stated that customers that I interacted with missed my style. I freelanced for 15 years and eventually opened my business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping businesses and employees thrive.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think it's the work-life balance. As an entrepreneur, you are driven to achieve and are willing to spend any amount of time getting there.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start - Being employed while you're starting a business means the money in your pocket while you're going through the start-up process.
- Run - Join associations like the SBA and Chamber of Commerce.
- Grow - Networking is key. Stay Positive. Your ethic speaks for itself, people notice, and then they refer.
