Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Krystal Appleby, Owner of Solluna Collective, located in Fort McMurray, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Solluna Collective is a small collective of heart-led practitioners. Solluna represents innovation, creativity, collaboration, possibility, deep healing & high vibration, where healing is simply a byproduct of amazing people getting together & amplifying their gifts & sharing their hearts. It’s inclusive to all & versatile in treating and helping people in so many ways. We want to show you what's possible for you in your personal life and maybe even future endeavours or business ideas you’ve had but had fear instilled into you of what’s possible or not and how complex it has to be when it simply doesn't.

We practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncture, Hypnotherapy, CranioSacral Therapy, Reiki & Channeled Intuitive Healing, Nutritional Counselling & Live Blood Cell Analysis. The diversity allows us to gather so many different viewpoints and approaches to healing to empower clients and remind them how potent their own ability to heal and step into joy truly is.

Tell us about yourself

Surrendering led me here. Acupuncture & TCM were an immediate love after finding them in a desperate cry to help my first dog with Epilepsy. This bought us years together, and eventually, one thing led to another. I found myself seeking deeply for what I now know was myself. What started as a runner wanting to do Sports Acupuncture led to a little holistic, spiritual-based clinic where nothing is rushed, the client is an active participant, and we dive deep into the core of the body & soul & ask the difficult questions.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm most proud and feel most accomplished about stepping back and allowing others the space to see what is possible, that they are capable, and that heart-led action can lead to a beautiful network, community & life of abundance. From clients to fellow practitioners, creating an environment for everyone to find safety & inspiration to grow is everything everyone that comes here deserves. Empowerment is the name of my game. Creating time and financial freedom for myself and letting others see it's possible is everything to me.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Thinking you should be doing things a certain way & tuning out the voices. Once you have a solid foundation and systems in place, I truly believe if you let your heart & soul drive the ship, the rest can be intuitive. I believe I'll pick up on when things aren't working, when I need an appointment with the accountant. I simply don't buy into hovering over my baby or practitioners or doing things how others are doing them. I'm unconventional; staying aligned to the heart is my only non-negotiable. Tuning out the noise & allowing old connections or people who are triggered by how I do and enjoy life has been the hardest piece.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If it's in your heart, it's likely meant for you.
  2. Strip your ego away, and make sure your decisions aren't being made solely for money, others' perceptions, and validation — get yourself an incredible mentor, therapist, hypnotherapist, etc. to work with you.
  3. Build a solid foundation, make sure your WHY absolutely sets your soul on fire & have some patience, and surround yourself with those who get it & can support you on the fun rollercoaster.
  4. Anyone can do it, but if you don't know why you're doing it, or if your heart isn't in it, then your business won't work for you; you'll work it. Life is too short for that.
