What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Turix Crystals, we empower people who are drawn to crystals & gemstones by providing them with the tools they need for their crystal journey so they can overcome life's challenges, find joy in their everyday lives and become a source of positivity that spreads to others.
Our customer is someone who is deeply interested in crystals and personal growth. They are drawn to the beauty and positive energy of crystals and use them for various purposes, such as managing anxiety and bringing peace, happiness, and positivity into their life.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Sofia, and I started Turix with my partner Anthony in 2019. Turix (tour-eesh) means dragonfly in Mayan, but back then, I was not aware of the deep meaning dragonflies held to many cultures as a symbol of happiness, strength, and courage. To me, Turix was a word my grandmother Pini taught me as a kid. Growing up in the Yucatan peninsula, this was one of the many Mayan words that she learned from her ancestors. So for me, it carries a lot of joyful memories by her side and a feeling of unlimited love. A safe place. Respect for old traditions and the ancestral knowledge passed from one generation to another. It's just a word, but to me, it means so much more. Some people might say the same about crystals. "It's just a rock." It may be just a rock for them, but that doesn't take away any of its meaning or boundless potential. To find out a couple of years ago, when we started Turix Crystals, that dragonflies are considered a symbol of change, transformation, and self-realization served as a confirmation that we were on the right path. Nowadays, nothing makes me happier than receiving emails from our customers sharing with us how much our crystals have helped them on their own journeys.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having a positive impact on the lives of over 70,000 people and helping them live with more joy.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Staying motivated when things get difficult. You always need to remind yourself that it's part of the process and that things will get better.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start small and then scale from there.
- Keep good track of your numbers.
- Always be learning new skills and studying the success of other great businesses.
