Tell us about yourself
I spent a decade working in social media marketing for lifestyle brands, including Travel Channel, WeddingWire, and Weber Shandwick (Nabisco Cookies, PetArmor, and more). I started my business when I found out I was six weeks pregnant and was laid off at the same time (https://community.thriveglobal.com/how-to-start-a-business-while-starting-a-family/). I am motivated every day by my family (to have the power to work but also be there for my family) and my client's success. Many of them are small businesses, and it's amazing to watch their growth through social media advertising.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment actually comes from a mistake I made two years ago. I tried to build a membership course and invested in a lot of programs to help me succeed, but I failed. Instead, I realized I loved serving women 1-on-1 and built a small team so I could serve my clients in an intimate, bigger way. I tripled my business after this.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Doing it alone!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know that you are not alone and find your groups (in person or online).
- Network with people inside AND outside your industry - you never know where it may lead you!
- Time is more important than money. Hire help - whether it's a part-time nanny to give you more time without kids, or VA or content creator - whatever gives a little more time for yourself or your business to fill your cup!
