Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lauren Johnson, Owner of Soap Witch Crafts, located in Hermitage,  TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Soap Witch Crafts, a bath and body brand, and my customer are women who love to feel sassy, fun, and full of life.

Tell us about yourself

After losing my husband to an ugly battle with lung cancer, I found solace in creating. I created all manner of jewelry and bath and body products. Formulating products allows me to put my math degree to good use. Creating ridiculous product listings allows me the fun and freedom to not take life so seriously.

I hope that when people come across my brand, they leave feeling lighthearted and uplifted.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Learning to step out of my comfort zone and become the face/representative of my brand. I am quite introverted, and putting myself out there took a lot of courage. Courage I didn't know I had.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The actual "business" parts. Making stuff is awesome, but the housekeeping stuff (budgeting, marketing, taxes) I wish I could somehow do without.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Get a business coach to help you find direction and give guidance. Work with an accountability team to help you stay on task, even when you don't want to. Create a business plan to help give your business a purpose beyond making money. It's got to be about more than that.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Creating and running Soap Witch Crafts has been and still is one of the greatest pleasures of my life. I am incredibly grateful for the experience and all of the people who have supported me and continue to do so.

Thank you for the opportunity.
