What's your business, and who are your customers?

Small Bits of Happiness is a company created by teens for anyone seeking more happiness in daily life. We share happiness hacks that are simple to do and can boost anyone's mood daily. We are soon launching our first line of products to bring small bits of happiness to individuals of all ages. Our products include Mission: Small Bits of Happiness (pictured), a game that shares 100 unique activities, helping individuals learn what brings them a small bit of happiness. Additionally, our first product launch will include a line of clothing specifically designed to remind individuals to look for happiness in the everyday.

Tell us about yourself

My sister and I are both teenagers. We decided to create Small Bits of Happiness as we saw a need in the teenage population. Being a teenager is difficult. We undergo increased responsibilities, hormone changes, friendship conflicts, as well as the stresses of our present world. These types of stresses include war, pandemic, climate change, and more, all taking a toll on not only the happiness of teenagers but that of individuals of all ages. My daily motivation stems from the fact that finding small bits of happiness in daily life has transformed my world, and I want to help others feel the same.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of the most memorable moments I've experienced is when we reached over 700k impressions across all our social media between May-December 2022. Another memorable moment was when someone approached me in public, letting me know how much Small Bits of Happiness has helped them and their teen.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the most difficult things about being a business owner for me is constantly problem-solving. I have learned that staying calm in these times is the key to successfully finding a solution. Most of all, sometimes, these challenges and obstacles create better opportunities for myself and Small Bits of Happiness.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Identify exactly who your ideal customer is.
  2. Remember that it's a marathon, not a sprint.
  3. Remember your WHY throughout all your challenges.
