Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amanda Smith of SLB Enterprises LLC, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a professional firm of consultants who help property owners and investors with funding for real estate investments, as well as helping with delinquent taxes, liens, foreclosures, and auction dates for distressed properties.

Tell us about yourself

I fell into this field accidentally. While struggling to raise my young kids alone during the pandemic, after I had closed one of my main businesses, an MMA gym in Arizona, I struggled to keep my bills paid, so I took an opportunity to help a real estate investor with his marketing business. While learning the backend of the business, it only took me a few months before I learned how to broker loans for investment properties and help people who are about to lose equity in their homes. This industry gave me purpose again on how I could help families and business owners by using investor’s funds to make a win-win situation for everyone in the process.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is not giving up after losing multiple businesses and starting over each time. I feel like I’ve learned the most from my challenges over the years. Instead of giving up, I took the time to cut myself off from the world and focus on my children, myself, and my business. This was not easy. As alone as it may have felt at times, this was exactly what I needed to do to get where I wanted to go.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing I have learned about being a business owner is that it’s very similar to being pregnant and giving birth…Everyone has a story, and everyone has a theory of how it will feel and what to do when going through natural childbirth… but until you go through it… you truly have no idea. It’s a personal journey with true pain that nobody can accurately predict.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I’m very confident in my answers for this one:

  1. Build meaningful relationships.
  2. Invest in yourself wisely.
  3. Stay focused on WHY you’re doing what you’re doing…
