Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Carolyn Moyers, Owner of Sky Women's Health, located in Fort Worth, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Sky Women's Health is a concierge gynecology and osteopathy practice for busy professional women in Dallas/Fort Worth area. We specialize in midlife care - perimenopause/menopause, vulvar disorders, pelvic pain, and sexual medicine. In addition, we collaborate with OBs in the area to provide back and pelvic pain relief so that pregnant and postpartum patients can continue their busy lives pain-free.
Tell us about yourself
I am a Board Certified OBGYN, fellowship trained in neuromusculoskeletal medicine, an entrepreneur, podcast host, wife, and mom of 4. I love women's health. It is my life's work, and as I grew and evolved in my career, I began to dream of a more authentic way to serve women. We deserve better than what the health care system is offering, and women are often feeling dismissed. Recognizing gaps in healthcare specific to OBGYN, I created a practice that used my unique skill set and allowed me more time with my patients.
We have two service lines.
- Neuromusculoskeletal medicine or osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) provides solutions for back and pelvic pain in pregnancy and postpartum so that women can enjoy their pregnancy and newborn on their own terms.
- Perimenopause/Menopause Medicine - as a fellow of the International Society of Women's Sexual Health and North American Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner, my gynecology practice focuses on sexual health and menopause medicine.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Realized a dream I put to paper three years ago came to fruition. More importantly, the regional and state-wide awards and 5-star reviews of our patients are the best accomplishments because it means we are doing exactly what we set out to do - provide excellent integrative care.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Knowing no one is coming to save you. You are the decision maker and the captain of the ship.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Expect challenges and surround yourself with a team to help you pivot, grow and evolve through them.
- Having a money coach and a business coach will help you keep a healthy growth mindset.
- Work hard. Play hard.
