Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with William Giandoni, Co-Founder of Skintap, located in Great Falls, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We connect patients with board-certified dermatologists to provide convenient quality care.

Tell us about yourself

Skintap is my third entrepreneurial endeavor. The first one failed miserably in 2004. The second one we sold in 2020. My motivation to be an entrepreneur is to work to generate wealth for my family and put myself in a position to spend my time how I see fit.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My business partner and I built our previous company to nearly 500 employees with over $150 million in annual revenue.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The curse of success. Sometimes, when you achieve success, you begin to believe you are the reason for the success and you can do no wrong. It is imperative to remember you are only as strong as your weakest team member and that the best solution is usually derived from the super intelligence of the team you have built.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My tips are to build a rapid high-growth company with revenues in the ten-plus million dollar range:

  1. Get focused, abandon everything, and get dialed into one thing. Don't try and be everything to everyone; pick one thing and be the best.
  2. Drop the people who are hanging around looking to ride the wave without contributing. These can be friends; they can be the nice person in the office, and they can be the drinking buddy. Whoever is not contributing to the wave needs to be dropped.
  3. Surround yourself with like-minded people outside of work. Many people will question why you are doing what you are doing; let them go. Say goodbye to the naysayers and folks who question your abilities to achieve your goal. Surround yourself with people trying to do what you are doing.
