What's your business, and who are your customers?
Sincerely Skin is a skincare and laser boutique. We specialize in skin care treatments and have a retail boutique for your at-home skincare needs. We work with our guests and provide a thorough and personalized skincare consultation to address the concerns and needs of the skin. We discuss a treatment plan including services, at-home skincare routines, and follow-up. We want our guests to feel we have taken care of their needs and wishes.
Tell us about yourself
I am a former Social Worker turned Esthetician, then Entrepreneur. After working for another spa in the area 11 years ago, I have worked in the spa industry for over 20 years and started Sincerely Skin (formerly Willow Esthetics Boutique). I had a young son at the time, and working for myself gave me the freedom to be more active in his life. I am motivated to do what I do because I appreciate seeing the growth in the team that works with me every day and seeing the changes that my team imparts on our guests on a daily basis. We have fun and love what we do.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Keeping my team together for as long as I have and being part of the growth of team members that have moved on in new directions.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Wearing all the hats and doing all the things on your own.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you are borrowing money to start your business, borrow more than you think you need.
- Hire people smarter than you to do the things you don't know how to do or want to do; assistant, bookkeeper, marketing agency, etc.
- Network/mastermind with other business owners. Being a business owner can be lonely at times. You need others who are going through similar things for support.
