Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in jewelry and accessories but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Naomi Cordero-Cadaing, Founder of Simply Grace Clay Co. LLC., located in Matthews, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Simply Grace Clay Co LLC. is a Christian-owned small business that makes handmade polymer clay accessories, custom clay cutters, & faith-based, designed t-shirts. Every Monday night, I do live sellings. These live sellings allow VIP members to shop new items at a discounted price. A percentage of the lives goes back to the several ministries I support like Ground 40, Help crisis center, turning point & love life. I have a wide variety of customers ranging from the young kids to the finely aged.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Naomi. Child of the King, this business wouldn’t have been possible without God’s mighty hand. I am an Air Force veteran, wife, mama of 2 awesome little boys, & youth leader. I take pride in each of those titles, for they make me who I am today!

I started my journey summer of 2019 as my husband was on a deployment/TDY. I wanted to find something to do to pass the time. I started out making tassel & cabochons earrings; then, I ventured into clay. At first, I doubted myself; I felt I wouldn’t be good enough or make it. God reminded me he gave me this passion, this talent, and to extend myself some Grace. Nothing was impossible with his guidance! The business has been going on for three years & has been one of the biggest blessings in my life! I quit my full-time job in April 2020, trusted God would provide, and allowed him to guide me. I make each piece with love; each piece & design is planned out to a T. I strive to use my business to reach hearts & spread God’s love!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have developed many meaningful relationships because of this business. Ministry is important to me, and the fact I have been able to successfully pair ministry along with my creativity has been huge as a small business owner!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Giving myself grace and taking a break! I love what I do, which is the problem, haha! I don’t know how to stop! But I struggle at times giving myself grace and allowing that sometimes it’s a trial and error.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Pray about it! Do your research on your interest. There are tons of resources to help you grow. Be patient and understand there will be good days and bad days, but don’t you ever give up! Push through on the tough days and celebrate little victories; I believe in YOU!
