What's your business, and who are your customers?
Simply Daisy Candles is an online scented candle & wax melts business. Statistics show that 95% of candle customers are women. However, our customers are both male and female. My business caters to anyone who enjoys having a unique candle with amazing scents burning throughout their home, business, or place of work.
Tell us about yourself
During the pandemic, I wanted to do something in my idle time. I wanted it to be a business I would enjoy doing and make it profitable for my family and me. In March 2020, I started Simply Daisy Candles, which has been busy since then. I'm determined to make a better candle than my last candle. The motivation I get from reading customers' reviews or seeing my customers' faces when they smell their candles for the first time is what drives and motivates me each and every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is when I'm walking into an establishment, and I'm told how much someone loves my candle. At a popup, a customer comes to me expressing how satisfied they are with their candle purchase makes it all worthwhile.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner for me would be time management. Being able to prioritize my time between work, family, and running a business can be challenging at times.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Research: Make sure you research your product, product line, and competitors.
- Don't compare: All businesses don't move at the same pace. Take your time.
- Collaborate - Link up with other entrepreneurs. They may be able to expose you to bigger and better things.
