What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a Woman-Owned Small Business focused on improving people's quality of life by supplying the purest herbal supplements extracted and manufactured from 100% organic herbs in India. We value nature and believe the best remedies have always been available to us for centuries. With a growing number of individuals increasing their focus on self-care, we decided now was the best time to blend a balanced mixture of an age-old way of life with modern ways of consumption.

Our customers are people living with limitations from Arthritis & joint pain.
People who are looking to improve their quality of life by way of better sleep, reduced stress/anxiety, improved sexual vigor & heart health.
People who want to improve their quality of breathing.

All our products are Veggie/Vegan, Non-GMO, No Sugar, No Preservatives, and are Gluten Free. We manufacture these in US FDA registered facilities with strict GMP guidelines ensuring the highest quality standard in our product. Our products are devoid any and all heavy metals.

Tell us about yourself

Owned by a married couple, Shuddha (Sanskrit for 'Pure') Herbs was born during the pandemic while we were pregnant with our baby daughter. Every Indian family has a list of home remedies. When Kelly had given birth, a lot of natural home remedies were given to her to recover quickly postpartum. Feeling these benefits got Kelly thinking 'why aren't the health benefits of herbs talked about all that much in the USA?'

Add to that the fact that the dawn of COVID and the fallout after would lead to increased awareness and appreciation for natural products to help boost your body's functions. We knew it was the perfect time to develop some much-needed products for the North American market. People are going back to the old adage that prevention is better than cure, and we wanted to develop products that are:

A. One of a kind in the market - our product ARTH, for example.
B. Products that provide overall betterment - our Ashwagandha Boost.
C. Products to help with better breathing since COPD is a growing issue - our product BREEZIL.

What motivates us the most - in pretty much everything we do - is our daughter. As she grows up, we want her to be inspired by us so she can also focus on creating solutions that would better people's lives. Watching her smile at us is most definitely the match that ignites us to work harder every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We have always hustled to get where we are. We worked multiple jobs together to build our own capital and move from one country to another mid pandemic. We invested in starting a business together, which will help people's lives. But what we are most proud of in our business is our product ARTH. We invested heavily in R&D and developed a product that is North America's first 100% herbal fast-acting healthy joint & Arthritis support. We invested in clinical trials, the results of which cemented our belief that ARTH has the potential to be a game-changer for people living with Arthritis.

We have found all our customers have reported reduced swelling, reduced pain & increased mobility in their joints. People living with Arthritis depend on pain killers & NSAIDS, which are bad for you long-term as they are proven to damage your liver, all just to mask the pain. ARTH is 100% herbal with no side-effects and the only natural product out there which can give you symptomatic relief in such a short time.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Consumer education. In this day and age of information explosion, your words can get lost in all the white noise. People's attention spans have reduced, so you have to be able to get your message across in less than 5 seconds (if not quicker), which can sometimes be tough when listing out the science-backed benefits of our products.

Once people try our products, they remain repeat customers, which gives us the confidence we are on the right track and just have to keep at it in terms of consumer education.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient. This is something I've had the toughest time in accomplishing. Starting a business can be very disheartening when you don't see results at the speed you were expecting them. If you believe in your product/service offerings, just know there are plenty other people with the same beliefs and tastes as you. So hang in there and keep chipping away.
  2. Add value. This can easily be forgotten or understated. How is your business adding value to people's lives? If you can answer this question successfully through your product/service, then you have a potentially successful business on hand. Always find the things that your business adds unique or most value to.
  3. Be true. To yourself. Is this something you enjoy doing? Do you love what your business offers its customers? Is it something you would pay for and use regularly? These are just some of the many key questions you should ask yourself before deep diving into a business. Starting, running & growing a business is a huge time (and money, duh) commitment, so be doubly - nay - triply sure that this is something you want to do before jumping in headfirst.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Herbal supplements are from a science (Ayurveda) that has been in existence for over thousands of years. People will always prefer natural over chemical, and we are glad to bring our unique products to the North American market.

Always remember: to live pure is to live Shuddha.
