What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company name is The Scribes Collective, a writing community and publishing boutique for Christian authors. I offer book coaching, web design, and full-service publishing.

Tell us about yourself

I started my publishing company in 2020, but it was solely for my books. After years of coaching people informally, in June 2023, I made the leap of faith to start full-time group coaching and publishing to help Christian authors go from stuck to published.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far has been booking a client I never thought I would have the opportunity to work with. It proved to me that I am providing great value.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest things are time management and work-life balance. I enjoy my work a lot, so it's not easy to clock out, but I am learning to create strong boundaries now.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I would give aspiring business owners three tips: seek automation early in your business, create boundaries for yourself in your personal and business life, and charge your price, but make sure you are providing value.
