Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Laura Ritter, Owner of Shasta's Sweet Treats, located in Henderson, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a bakery/coffee shop, and we serve everyone in our community. All are welcome into my space.

Tell us about yourself

I have a passion for feeding people and making them smile. I love to bake. It is my way of tuning out the outside world and destressing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I put in the work. I remodeled the building; I built my food truck. I do the work! The good, the bad, and the fun!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being responsible for other people's livelihoods! The stress of making sure your employees can make money (even when the business isn't).

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Plan for the unforeseeable. I thought I was ready for this but the changes in the last couple of years while building the shop and then building the clientele is a lot more than I bargained for! Life changes; be prepared to change with it.
