Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Shannon Rollins, Founder of Shannon Rollins Hypnosis, located in Orlando, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a Hypnotherapy and Wellness business. I help people with modalities like Hypnotherapy, Coaching, Breathwork, and EFT Tapping. My customers are high achievers who are trying to improve their personal or professional lives. I serve both women and men.

Tell us about yourself

I always was into health and wellness. I received a Masters from UF in Health Behavior. After working behind a desk and doing coaching on the side in my 20's, I finally decided I wanted to make more of an impact but didn't know what to do. Then, I had a loss in my family... I ended up going to a wonderful hypnotherapist who helped me during that hard time in my life. After my first session with her, I KNEW that's what I wanted to do. I enrolled in hypnotherapy school the next day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm not sure it's one big accomplishment; it's the compilation of every single person I have the ability to help. Their wins are my wins. There is nothing sweeter than when a client comes in and shares all the wonderful things happening to them as a result of our work together.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, you have to make scary decisions that may make or diminish your business. Sometimes, these decisions can be scary because there is no "boss" to run them by. You are leaning on YOU to make the changes you need to make.

All in all, though, it's been stepping back and KNOWING it's ok to take time for me. And in taking more time off for me, I am actually serving my clients better.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Trust your path, it may not happen overnight, but it WILL happen. Don't accept no.
  2. You just have to go for it... I mean, hold your breath and jump; put yourself out there! You will figure it out through trial and error.
  3. Expect failure; there will be times you will fail, and you're gathering data with each failure on what to do the next time around. Brush your pants off, and keep moving.
