Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Isaac Kodsi, Founder of Shake Wellness, LLC., located in Miami, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is in the fitness wellness space. Shake is a combination of holistic and science, movement-based workout approach for mind-body alignment that's not only fun but safe and effective. Our customers are health-conscious people that want to be healthy but either doesn't have the time or actually dislike the idea of working out but realize that it's important if they want to be healthy and live a long and happy life. Shake provides the exact mix of time and efficiency without compromising on results.

Tell us about yourself

I'm in my 50s and have been an attorney for the past 30 years with a background as a competitive athlete. A few years ago, I injured my knee and did not recover well from the surgery required, impacting my ability to move. It was frustrating, and I almost lost hope until one day, while on my kid's backyard trampoline, I serendipitously discovered the powerful benefits of training on a large, unstable-resistant mat.

This inspired me to study the body's biomechanics and create a movement program that unleashes new possibilities in mind and body conditioning. What motivates me is listening to our customers who tell me how the workouts have positively impacted and made a difference in their daily lives— to being more energetic, feeling happy all day, motivated, and able to accomplish more, whether it's physical or mental.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating something totally unique that anyone and everyone can do and enjoy and seeing the market be receptive to the concept and product.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is controlling your emotions on challenging days, especially when you are impatient to have your vision materialized.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient yet persistent. While you can see everything in your mind, it doesn't mean everyone else can see your vision. Understand that it's all a process and learn to have fun on the journey.
  2. Don't take everything so personally. Embrace feedback or failure as an opportunity to learn and evolve.
  3. Believe in yourself. Especially on the hard days, remember why you're doing what you're doing, and that will steer you to success.
