Shaffer Security Group (SSG) is a Texas-based security firm specializing in designing security plans for special events, corporate security/executive protection teams, physical security vulnerability assessments, and active shooter response & personal security training.
Tell us about yourself
I am a retired FBI Special Agent with over 31 years of law enforcement experience. I am a former member of the FBI's elite "Hostage Rescue Team" (HRT), and I conducted tactical operations across the globe. I gained exclusive knowledge on planning security for special events while assigned as the North Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) Supervisor. During this time, I planned the security for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, 2011 NFL Super Bowl, 2011 MLB World Series, and various PGA and NCAA events. Each day I strive to learn more about security while ensuring those around me and my clients are kept safe.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting my own successful security business after 31 years of government service. I had to change my paradigm from being in the shadows and never on social media to marketing myself and my new company to include telling the world what I used to do and who I used to work for.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Learning the rules, regulations, laws, taxes, and reports for starting a new business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
