Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dalton Tolliver, owner of Seven Bridges Chiropractic, located in Jacksonville, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Seven Bridges chiropractic is here to be your bridge to wellness! Our primary focus is to make chiropractic care affordable for everyday people. We love to treat mothers and they’re growing babies, whether they are still in the belly or out running around creating chaos. In addition, we treat a variety of athletes due to my background in being a D1 volleyball player. I have also gotten multiple certifications in the sports realm, including becoming a certified functional strength coach. So whether you are a weekend warrior or trying to go professional, we know how to deal with your aches and pains!

I’d like to give you some insight into how we are different from other chiropractors in your area and how we may benefit you. First and foremost, we are a no-stress and no-pressure practice located in the wonderful San Marco community of Jacksonville, FL. Our #1 goal is to get you out of pain ASAP without long-term treatment plans. Whether you are looking for acute pain relief which may take as little as a couple of visits, or long-term wellness care, we cater your treatments to you, the patient, and your desires.

With that in mind, remember many patients come to us with chronic or long-standing problems and, as a result, will take longer to correct as opposed to the patient with an acute or initial onset of pain, whereby a few treatments may do the trick. Either way, at Seven Bridges Chiropractic, we will customize your treatment to your specific condition.

On the other hand, if we determine that chiropractor care is not the right choice for you, we will gladly make referrals based on our experience to other physicians that may benefit your specific condition.

Hope to see you in the office soon and be your bridge to wellness!

Tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Michigan but quickly knew I was meant for warmer weather. I spent my childhood outdoors on the farm, riding horses or in the gym playing volleyball. At a young age, I developed migraine headaches. My mother quickly took me to a Chiropractor, and after a few visits, I had great relief. It was at this point I knew my calling in life was to help others through chiropractic care.

My local Chiropractor taught me that Chiropractic care could do much more than just treat my headaches. I continued to see him while I played volleyball throughout high school, where I was an all-state athlete. I attribute my ability to play at such a high level and into college to my local Chiropractor.

After high school, I attended Appalachian State University, where I studied psychology with health studies focus while playing volleyball for the University. During my time playing, I relied on the chiropractors on staff and the athletic trainers to keep my body in playing shape. My love of athletics and seeing first-hand how powerful chiropractic can impact overall health and wellbeing is what solidified my passion for chiropractic care.

I attended Logan University in St. Louis, MO. I graduated Cum Laude with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree just over four years ago. During my time at Logan, I completed multiple clinical rotations that included: working with college and high school athletes, those with disabilities, and the medically under-served population. Also, while attending Logan, I went above and beyond the basic requirements by participating in multiple advanced adjusting, soft-tissue, and rehabilitation seminars. I continue to participate in numerous continuing education seminars to stay current with the latest information and treatment strategies from all disciplines. I have dedicated myself to treating my patients’ symptoms and finding the root cause of the conditions to correct and improve my patient’s overall function.

I believe that every person is different. They deserve to receive individualized care to help them reach their highest level of functionality. For this reason, I have taken the extra steps to become well versed in many different adjusting techniques and continue to stay up to date on the best treatments for my patients. My goal is to facilitate healing and restore efficient movement and comfort as quickly as possible. I take a multifaceted approach with my patients that may include adjustments, myofascial release, cupping, dry needling, and physiotherapy.

As you can tell, I am very patient-focused with my care! And sometimes, it's not easy to find jobs that align with that, which lead me into opening Seven Bridges chiropractic! Every day I am motivated to keep people moving to the best of their ability and be pain-free!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner is the growth that I've seen in year one! Nobody thought I could do what I did in the little office space I am currently in. I blew not only myself but almost every other person I talk to out of the water with what I was able to accomplish in my years in practice! The number of patients I was able to treat and get back to fully functioning in their day-to-day lives without pain was and still is so rewarding!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are many challenges with business ownership. One of the hardest things about being a business owner is all the unknowns when creating a business. Whether in Jacksonville, Florida, or another city, you'll need to submit various documents. After you’re up and running, there are many things that you need to keep up with throughout the year to stay legal.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. My number one tip is starting a business is not for everyone! The amount of hours you put in day-to-day business-related that you don’t see returns on is astonishing! I absolutely love running my own business and couldn’t see myself doing anything else, but there are a lot of people that aren’t willing to put in the hours that it takes.
  2. My tip for running a business is to stay on the course, there will be very challenging times, but it will all be worth it.
  3. My tip for growing a business is network, network, network! The more people you know, the more your business can be out there.
