What's your business, and who are your customers?
Serendipity Massage offers massage from an RMT. Clients are from the surrounding area; they are 18-65 yrs.
Tell us about yourself
I started in the business after my dad had his stroke. He was pronounced dead three times. My mom and I stayed strong for my dad to come out of the coma that he was put in. He came two months later. Rehabilitation had started, and I assisted every day. After numerous appointments, I was advised to apply for physiotherapy assistance. I completed the course and got hired at a private clinic. Realized that I had wanted more. Then began my journey to become a massage therapist. Motivation comes from seeing the clients progress from the first time that I see them.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is seeing how far I have come with all the hardships that I had to endure on my journey. To see how successful I have become.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing I find is raising the prices for massages. I have worked with my clients for years; some try to argue that it is too much and they will only pay a certain amount. Then I either accept or ask them to find another therapist.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have an open mind.
- Be confident in yourself.
- Don't give up.
