What's your business, and who are your customers?
Serendipity Body Products specializes in artfully blending aromatherapy and skincare options that are natural and safe. I have a passion for healthy living, from running to what goes in and on my body. This care for myself extends to my customers, who I truly love helping. It’s about making people happy – whether it’s a scent they love or a solution to their problem.
Tell us about yourself
It all started with a one-day class on making your own skincare products. It became a hobby as I made them for family and friends who really liked them. I experimented with scents and learned to substitute more natural ingredients. My interest in the benefits of essential oils and my passion for helping others motivated me to become a Certified Aromatherapist.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would say it’s helping my aromatherapy clients by improving their conditions and reducing their symptoms. The feedback has been great, and clients often reorder their customized aromatherapy products. I get great satisfaction from improving the lives of my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a sole proprietor, it’s having to be the expert on everything and trying to keep up with all the changes, especially changes in technology and social media. One minute you think you have it mastered, and then in a blink of an eye, what you’re doing is outdated.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would say get help – not just opinions from family and friends but from organizations that help entrepreneurs for free. Additionally, spend the money to get help where you need it – it will save you time and money down the road.
