Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in banking aides but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Corey Gross, owner and founder of Sensibill, located in Toronto, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sensibill provides help for banking customers to better manage finances, find new ways to save, and identify opportunities to maintain a healthier financial lifestyle. We are able to accomplish this through leveraging AI-assisted financial support and guidance. We partner with large banks like JPMorgan Chase, as well as community banks and credit unions, serving more than 60 million customers across North America and the UK. Our goal is to provide support to as many people as possible.

Tell us about yourself

I have always been deeply motivated to bring more transparency and accessibility into financial services, especially for those who are not as well oriented with managing money or understanding what products suit them best. For some, finding a way to save an extra $20 here or there can make all the difference. At Sensibill, we are obsessed with bridging the gap between banking and buying, forging that connection between people’s financial lives and spending behaviors. This can give them much more transparency into where their money is actually going.

Do you have daily rituals for work / wellness / fitness / mindfulness?

I’m in the gym five times a week, walk for 1.5 hours every day while I listen to podcasts, and focus on nutrition (including macro and calorie tracking).

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am immensely proud of earning the trust of more than 150 financial institutions, ultimately helping millions better manage their money. This trust has been hard earned through the quality of our team’s work, professionalism and adherence to compliance and security standards, as well as innovation through AI-assistance.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a business owner has many highs and lows - one particular challenge is making sure you're meeting the needs and taking care of both customers and your team. This has been more difficult than ever during a global pandemic because no one had a rulebook. I'm proud of how the whole Sensibill team stepped up to the plate over the last 20 months, by caring for customers and team members alike.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Since launching Sensibill, there are a few tips that have carried me along the way:

1) Be true to your values and passions.

2) However, separate passion from emotion. Passion will help others to follow your vision, while giving into emotion can make you volatile.

3) Always think what’s best for the business and for your team. These tips sound quite simple, yet can be the backbone to starting, running and growing your business.
