Freshly Made Lasagnas Delivered to You - Send a Friend Lasagna

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stephanie Daily, Owner of Send A Friend Lasagna, located in Indianapolis, IN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Send A Friend Lasagna is exactly what it sounds like. I make fresh lasagnas and deliver them to the greater Indianapolis area and cities inside our delivery zone. Our customers are anyone who loves lasagna! Seriously though, think about a friend that just had a baby, someone who just lost a loved one, a friend that just purchased a home, or a person recovering from surgery. I think everyone should have a lasagna delivered to them!

Tell us about yourself

I grew up in my family's restaurant and have always loved cooking and food. I was in the insurance industry for 13 years, then in social media marketing for another 10. I never thought I would reinvent myself, but after a friend's wife passed away, I took his family a lasagna. I decided I could make lasagna at night and still work my full-time job. I made the leap into lasagna on November 1st, 2019, and have never looked back. It's like a dream come true. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be able to do what I love every day is amazing; I just can't describe it. My motivation is the comfort my lasagna brings to people. It's the greatest feeling.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I could have never imagined I would open my own business, let alone succeed through a global pandemic, but I have, and that's a pretty amazing feeling. Being recognized in the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Monthly, and tv interviews I've given has been really cool. I've very proud of the philanthropic work I've done with Coburn Place, a domestic survivor's safe place in Indianapolis.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Paperwork, I hate it. Also, the ebbs and flow of entrepreneurship. It can be thrilling and manic at the same time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Never lower your standards, ever.
  2. Put out what you want to receive back from the universe.
  3. Hire an accountant.
