What's your business, and who are your customers?
Seguin Financial is a paperless and virtual bookkeeping and tax firm located in Ontario, Canada. We help business owners with modern bookkeeping solutions that eliminate stress and lighten the burden of entrepreneurship.

Tell us about yourself
I was working for a non-profit for five years before I decided to make a head dive into entrepreneurship. I resigned from my full-time job with only having three small clients on the side and decided to take a risk into my own business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In 2021, I won our Entrepreneur of the Year award, which was a great honour.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
For me, I think it's learning how to turn off our brains. I feel like I sometimes have difficulties turning off and being able to fully relax. It's something I have been working hard on over the last few months. One of the ways I've done this is I installed a new Gmail app that only funnels emails into my inbox twice per day. It's been very helpful!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be prepared to fail in your business. It's very rare for an entrepreneur not to have a moment of failure in their journey. Take that failure and grow and learn from it.
- Surround yourself with other businesses that can provide support in areas you might be weak in (marketing, finance, web design, etc.) You need to rely on others to propel your business forward.
- Get your bookkeeping in order! Even if you're a start-up, make sure you have someone on your team who can help provide you with financials when you need them.

Have fun on this journey! Being a business owner has been the best thing I've ever done, and I'm about to hit my 4th anniversary (January 2022).
