Tell us about yourself

I will have been working in healthcare for 30 years by the end of 2023. I have always had a passion for helping people, and when I realized my heart just was not 100% on the clinical side, I found myself gravitating towards the business, legal and regulatory side of the industry.

I spend the majority of my time engaged in and working with law firms across the country, defending hospitals, health systems, and providers of medical services against unjust allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse by the government, their contractors, and commercial insurance companies. With each successful defense with each successful closure of an investigation, it motivates me to take on new and challenging cases each day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our people succeed in their careers, and our client's satisfaction with the service(s) we provide is hands-down the biggest accomplishment for my partners and me as owners.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

There is no doubt the economy and the ever-changing landscape of the healthcare industry impact what we do in the short, medium, and long term from a business strategy and planning standpoint. The continuous reduction in physician compensation for services rendered by insurance companies, coupled with the runaway inflation we have seen over the past two years, makes things very complicated.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Create a strategy and realistic goals that are measurable and achievable. Don't allow your grand ideas to drive you to bad business decisions.
  2. Look to bring on people who are looking for a career, not just a job. Look for people who will be able to say, "I Love it Here."
  3. Stay focused on the here and now, and when you have that under control, then take incremental steps towards achieving your goals.
