Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Meredith Paci, coach at ScoobyPrep Coaching, located in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an online-based Functional Health Coach with TeamScoobyPrep. I work with anyone who desires to optimize their health and desires the guidance & accountability to do it. I take a whole-body, holistic, client-centered approach to educating & create awareness to last clients through life.

I look at everything from Nutrition, habits/lifestyle, Sleep, Training, Digestive Health, Hormonal Health, Thyroid, Adrenal, etc. To help navigate where a client is to where they desire to be for short-term goals but ultimately Longevity & Sustainability!

Tell us about yourself

I was moved to begin to help others navigate their health & hormonal struggles through my own experience of the lack of knowledge & honestly, a whole-body approach I found so lacking in the Medical system.

My personal story probably begins as a teenager with irregular cycles, chronic dieting, weight loss resistance, history of birth controls, Gut dysbiosis, then in my early twenties, chronic Ovarian Torsions & multiple surgeries, having one ovary removed, then dealing with Adrenal adaptation, being Induced into a Surgical Menopause in my Thirties due to continued torsions. We could discuss toxic work environment, grief, etc... so much that doesn't even get touched on with most medical practitioners. I had to become my own advocate. I was already in the Medical space as a Registered dental hygienist & this just wasn't enough. I saw all the links & I had to help others not feel so hopeless & lost.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment while in the coaching space has been simply being able to create impact & empower others in some way. If I can only ever pass along one thought that can help elicit a chain reaction of thoughts for someone to think bigger or differently, to change their life & health for the better, then I feel successful.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For myself, one of the hardest things is knowing what is possible but wanting the change more than the client. That is so tough, but ultimately I am not here to "change" anyone; I am here to help facilitate & guide a course or direction. The change must come from within.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just three is tough! Be a Life-Long student, be willing to fail often & a lot. Remember your "why"... why are you doing this? and a bonus 4th is remembered to take care of yourself. You must be a leader, which means you walk the talk.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

That we only have one life. Make you a priority. By taking care of yourself & your foundations, your quality of life will be that much better. Thus your work, your respect for others, etc. So many put their foundations on the back burner "for others." Remember... only you have the choice to change that, which can be a hard realization but such a powerful one. You are allowed to take care of yourself! Lastly... I'd like to thank you for the opportunity to be featured. My clients & their health means the world to me, so the opportunity to share that passion & perhaps reach others means so much. Thank you.
